It gives you great buying power, and help you save money. It will also give you piece of mind, knowing if some unexpected expense comes your way, you’ll be able to handle it. So now, more than ever, it is important to protect your credit score.

The first step Vivix Credit Solutions takes with our clients is to review their credit reports, so we have to know what helps to determine them, and in turn, we learn how to protect them. The major responsibility to protecting a credit score falls on the consumer. Credit cards and loans should be paid on time, or early if possible. You should be aware of what your credit limits are and always keep that balance at around a fourth of that.

It is important to live within your means. Keep yourself on a tight budget, making sure your bills, including any new credit accounts, are not greater to the amount of money you take home. Avoid temptation to fill up all your open credit cards. Remember to keep the balances at about a fourth of your minimum. This also helps keep your monthly payments low.

There are some outside influences that may affect your credit score, like Identity Theft. Vivix Credit Solutions has helped many of their clients deal with Identity Theft. We work to get the fraudulent credit accounts removed from your credit report report. But as they say, a drop of prevention is worth a pound of cure. There are some things you can do to protect yourself from these crimes.

Beware of email and phone scams. Some of these seems very obvious, but some could catch you off-guard. Think twice before giving a credit card number, check number and especially your social security number out via email or over the phone. These numbers should only be given to people you trust or companies with which you contacted first. Always check your bills to make sure there are no fraudulent charges. And if you are disposing of any financial information, make sure to shred it first.
Your credit may also be affected by items on your credit report that are out of date or inaccurate. You have the right to review your credit report on a yearly basis, or once if you are turned down for credit. Review your credit report for inaccuracies. Remember that uou have rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as well as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
