The Second Largest Credit Bureau: A Look at Experian
Equifax holds its own as the largest consumer credit bureau worldwide, but Experian is another common household name and not far behind. While the top three – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – hold much of the credit industry market, there are other lesser-known agencies out there. As a consumer, you have the right to inspect your credit history from any and all of these agencies, at any time. You are even granted a free report from each once per year. And if you should find any errors on your report, Vivix Credit Solutions is here to help you rebuild or repair your credit history.

Two Well-Known Companies Become One

Experian started in 1996 when two top companies merged into one – TRW Information Systems and Services and the CCN Group. Prior to the merger, TRW and Retail Credit Company were the two major players in consumer credit agencies. Retail Credit Company later went on to be renamed Equifax in order to change its image. Formed in 1980, CCN was established to support a British conglomerate’s own retail businesses. It quickly became the UK’s leading credit bureau. Because of its location, it held the ability to become a global leader in credit risk management solutions and TRW saw this potential. Joining forces, they formed Experian and continue to do business as the second largest credit bureau worldwide alongside Equifax and TransUnion.

Multinational Credit Reporting

In the ten years following its formation, Experian reached out globally to markets in Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Eastern Europe. They offered more than financial services and broadened their services to reach a larger base for business-to-business offerings. In 2002, the company acquired ConsumerInfo.com, which allowed Experian to offer more direct to consumer services, which included credit report monitoring and alerts. Five years later, the parent company, GUS, felt Experian had grown enough to demerge and hold its own on the stock exchange. It now serves clients in over 80 countries and has approximately 15,000 employees worldwide who are accessing and sending consumer and business information to companies around the globe.

One of the Top Two Agencies Worldwide

With a business that has such a far-reaching base of clients and consumers, it is no wonder that inaccuracies can end up on our credit reports. Though some negative reporting items may be placed on your report as a matter of policy, mistakes can and do happen. Human error can result in misspellings and numerical typos that can lead to mistaken identity, fraudulent activity, and damage to your credit report that is unwarranted. Vivix Credit Solutions is here to help you remove negative credit reporting items from your credit history, resulting in higher FICO and Vantage scores and improved chances of being approved for financing. Be an informed consumer and review your credit at least once per year for errors and omissions, and contact us should you find either. We’ll work to remove negative marks, rebuild your credit and restore your good name, so you can get back to living the life you’ve planned.
